West Bengal: Stampede At Vaccination Centre In Jalpaiguri, At Least 20 Injured

On August 31, a stampede at a vaccination centre in Jalpaiguri district, West Bengal left at least 20 people injured. This comes on a day when West Bengal vaccinated around 11 lakh people. Five among the injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital for serious injuries. Reportedly, nearly 2,000 people had gathered near the centre. Some eyewitnesses told NDTV that there was hardly any police deployment in the area. When the police officials reached the spot at around 10 am and opened the gates of the vaccination centre, people rushed in, running and pushing each other. Many children, women and elderly people fell down in the chaos. An enquiry has been ordered. Watch the video to know more.
