UK-EU agree to operate Northern Ireland with necessary flexibility in customs and tax

The UK and EU have agreed on more flexibility for Northern Ireland,.. in terms of border checks and taxes for goods.
It's welcoming progress,... as two sides remain largely at odds over the ongoing post-Brexit trade deal.

Kyung-eun, tells us more.
Mok-yeon, food supplies going into Northern Ireland from the UK,... will NOT be subject to new customs checks or tax,... even after Britain leaves the EU.
Basically, there will be no change to current regulations,.... that allow free flow of goods in the region.
The two sides have agreed on a three-month grace period,... before retailers get used to post-Brexit rules.
A longer six-months will be applied to the supply of chilled meats,... while medicines have been granted a 12 month grace period.
Since Brexit was confirmed, there had been many questions over Northern Ireland,... which is the only part of the UK to share a land border with the EU.
A previous agreement says the region would remain in the EU’s single market and follow customs rules, which had prompted concerns over disruptions in the market.
