Just less than two weeks before the November Presidential election, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Sudan and Israel have agreed to normalize relations.
Trump sealed the agreement on Friday while joined on the phone by the Israeli Prime Minister, the Sudanese Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, and the Sundanese PM.
According to a joint statement from the three countries, the leaders of Sudan and Israel have agreed to end the state of belligerence and begin economic and trade relations.
The announcement came shortly after Trump had informed Congress of his plans to remove Sudan from the state sponsor of terrorism list.
After the terror attack on New York's World Trade Center in 1993, the U.S. designated Sudan as a state sponsor of terrorism.
