Ignoring the directive of Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi to defer the Assembly proceedings, the ruling Congress commenced the budget session as scheduled on Monday. Though the session was scheduled to start at 9. 30 a.m, the proceedings began at 9. 45 a.m.As Speaker V. P. Sivakolandhu occupied the chair, Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, urged the Speaker to dispense with the Lt Governor’s customary address as she failed to arrive at the Assembly.
In Rajastan Dissident Congress leader Sachin Pilot assured the public that he was "not going to join the BJP", hours after Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot accused him of "playing into BJP's hands".
