President Moon Jae-in is calling on the government to prepare for all possible scenarios,... highlighting the need for exceptional virus prevention and economic revitalization efforts.
At a Cabinet meeting Tuesday,... President Moon noted the recent spike in new COVID-19 cases could slow down the economic recovery in the third quarter.
I ask the government to focus all its capacity on operating emergency systems to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and to draw up measures to protect jobs, minimize the economic fallout, stabilize people's lives and revive the economy.
President Moon said that should the heightened social distancing rules remain in place for a prolonged period of time,... they could slow down economic recovery in the third quarter.
He called for the swift implementation of the government's third extra budget,... and requested that officials check if the previous budgets have had a big enough impact.
The meeting was held under tightened social distancing rules,... with cabinet members, including Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun joining through a video conference from the Seoul Government Complex.
Participants at the Blue House were also spaced out and had plexiglass shields between them.
