S. Korea reports 926 cases on Monday, more than 70% from capital region

We start with the coronavirus situation in the country.
South Korea reported more than 900 cases of COVID-19 on Monday... most of which came from the greater Seoul area.
To contain the virus, Seoul Metropolitan Government will announce later today whether it will impose a policy that would ban gatherings of five or more people in the capital region.
The Korean government will also announce on Tuesday new measures that will be put in place for the upcoming Christmas holiday season.

South Korea reported 926 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, falling below one-thousand for the first time in six days... after recording a record-high 1,097 cases the day before.
Of the Monday's 892 cases that were locally transmitted... more than 70-percent came from the greater Seoul area.
327 came from Seoul, and 322 from the surrounding Gyeonggi-do Province and Incheon.
As cases surge in the capital region, the Seoul Metropolitan government is considering banning gatherings of five or more people... to prevent any further spread of the virus during the holiday season.
The government hasn't decided on it yet... but specific details about the plan will be announced later on Monday.
Gyeonggi-do Province is also considering the same measure.
If this measure is put in place, only gatherings of up to four people will be allowed... both indoors and outdoors.
This is an even tougher measure than under Level Three social distancing... which prohibits gatherings of 10 or more people.
Meanwhile, as nursing homes keep seeing sporadic cluster infections, workers and residents in all of these facilities nationwide will be tested for COVID-19 more often.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters said that starting Monday,... nursing home workers and residents in the capital area will have to be tested once a week and those in other regions will be tested once every two weeks.
There were 24 deaths on Monday, the highest number in one day since the outbreak began.
