South Korean Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun is urging the country's doctors not to go on strike... over their opposition to the government's plan to build a public medical school.
In a briefing Sunday, he said a strike will hurt ordinary people, and pleaded with doctors to solve the problem through dialogue.
He also told the health ministry to communicate effectively with medical professionals.
The government is planning to build a medical school to train more doctors... who'll get scholarships if they work in underserved areas for ten years.
Specialist doctors in the Korea Medical Association are planning to close their offices this coming Friday... to be joined by other doctors the following Friday.
