The total number of coronavirus cases worldwide has topped 13-point-7 million. And according to Johns Hopkins University on Thursday local time, the outbreak has killed at least 588-thousand people.
The U.S. has seen by far the highest number of cases worldwide,... with an all-time high of more than 75-thousand daily COVID-19 cases. The country's total cases on Thursday surpassed the three-point-five million mark and around 138-thousand Americans have died from the virus.
Brazil's coronavirus cases and deaths are rising fast. The country has seen a total of more than 2 million confirmed coronavirus cases and 76-thousand deaths,... the world's second highest behind the United States. Government figures show nearly 40-thousand new infections every day.
As the virus is gaining steam not only in Brazil's major cities, but also rural areas, residents are concerned amid the poorly coordinated response.
"I'm really, really scared. Every day (coronavirus cases) increase. The trend isn't decreasing, it's increasing. And with all these crowds - I'm running out of here."
The pandemic is also spreading rapidly in India. The number of COVID-19 cases in India has reached near one million on Thursday fueled by surge in countryside areas where healthcare infrastructure is much weaker. India has seen a record of more than 32-thousand new infections with the death toll surpassing 24-thousand according to the country's federal health ministry.
The country's testing rate in relation to its population is one of the lowest in the world.
