Despite a delay due to COVID-19, Ballet Festival Korea kicked off this week with audiences able to enjoy elegant performances from some of the country's best ballet dancers.

Marking its 10th anniversary,… this year's "Ballet Festival Korea" presents nine ballet works.
The Korea National Ballet was slated to open the festival with its romantic ballet show around a week ago,… but that got canceled due to the spread of COVID-19 in the capital area.
Instead, the festival finally got going on Thursday with Universal Ballet's performance of classic works like 'Swan Lake' and 'The Pirate'.
Since it first started in 2011, Ballet Festival Korea has been a way to introduce ballet to the general public.
But due to the COVID-19 outbreak, things are little different this year.
“At this year’s festival, the audience are asked to follow safety measures such as wearing a mask, filling out health questionnaires and sitting a seat apart while they enjoy unique ballet shows.”
Classic and contemporary performances will run until June 28 at Seoul Arts Center,... along with creative works such as putting ballet dances to tango music.
The artistic director says this festival could also be a nice chance for the public to enjoy performances by Korean ballet dancers who usually perform abroad.
"Currently around 250 Korean ballet dancers are performing abroad with several major ballet companies. Foreign dancers could not join due to COVID-19, but it is a great chance for people to see Korean dancers in renowned ballet troupes such as the Paris Opera Ballet and Boston Ballet performing together."
The audience must follow strict safety measures, but that shouldn't stop them from enjoying the show.
