S. Korea pledges assistance of US$ 30 mil. for global vaccine drive

South Korea has pledged assistance worth 30 million U.S. dollars... for five years starting next year... to fund the supply of vaccines of various kinds for the world's poorest countries.
Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha took part in the Global Vaccine Summit 2020 hosted online by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday.
The meeting, held to raise funds for 'Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance' for the 2021 to 2025 period... brought together leaders from more than 30 countries who pledged more than 8-point-8 billion dollars in total... to develop and distribute vaccines for diseases such as measles and polio.
The biggest pledge to Gavi came from the UK at two billion dollars.
