New Southern Economic Committee pledges efforts to boost ties between Korea and ASEAN

The first general meeting was held this morning of the committee tasked with implementing the economic aspects of President Moon's New Southern Policy.
It was led by President Moon's special economic adviser, Kim Hyun-chul, who explained the achievements of the Moon administration's New Southern Policy over the past year.
He pledged that the commission will put all its efforts into increasing human resource exchanges between Korea and South and Southeast Asia,... in the hope that 15 million people will travel between Korea and ASEAN countries every year by the year 2020.
He also said... the commission will seek to create the basis for mutually beneficial and forward-looking economic cooperation... to boost bilateral trade with South and Southeast Asia.... and build a peaceful and secure environment in the region.
