오늘 21대 국회 개원, 본회의서 의장단 선출... 통합당은 반대

South Korea's 21st National Assembly officially begins its work in a few hours.
During the first session, lawmakers will vote on the National Assembly speaker and deputy speakers.
Five-term lawmaker Park Byeong-seug of the ruling Democratic Party is likely to be the speaker, while Kim Sang-hee from the same party and the main opposition United Future Party's Chung Jin-suk are likely to take the deputy speaker posts.
Despite strong opposition from the main opposition over the allocation of standing committee chairmen seats, the ruling party plans to push through with the session as numerous pending bills, including the government's third supplementary budget proposal awaits parliament screening.
According to parliamentary law, the ruling party, which holds 177 seats, could convene the session, as they surpass the threshold of half the total lawmakers.
