The World Health Organization has suspended its trial of (HIGH-DROXY-CLAWO-QUINN) hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19 due to safety concerns.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said Monday that the concern relates to the use of the drug to tackle COVID-19.
However, he noted the drug is generally safe to use in patients with autoimmune diseases or malaria.
(HIGH-DROXY-CLAWO-QUINN) Hydroxychloroquine, what U.S. President Donald Trump has praised as a panacea for COVID-19, is an anti-malarial drug to treat illnesses including lupus...but not proven to treat COVID-19.
