The South Korean military says it's easing the strict COVID-19 prevention measures placed on those serving their military service.
According to Seoul's defense ministry, effective Friday, restrictions on soldiers leaving base... which have been in place since mid-February... will be lifted gradually... in areas considered "safe zones."
These are areas that have gone one week without any reported new cases.
The ministry says it'll also consider allowing soldiers to take leave and have on-base visits.
It's also stockpiling testing kits and hospital beds in military hospitals as a contingency measure in case of a surge in COVID-19 cases in the military.
