U.S. President Donald Trump says he will press ahead with plans to sign a limited trade truce with Chinese President Xi Jinping at a new venue …after Chile said it couldn't host the APEC summit that was slated for later this month.
In a tweet on Thursday local time …Trump said the two sides are "working on selecting a new site" to sign the Phase One of Trade Agreement … which Trump says is 60 percent of the total deal.
He added a new location will be announced soon, ...emphasizing the two leaders will be there to sign the agreement.
According to Bloomberg, however, Chinese officials have said in private conversations that they won't budge on the critical issues, …and that they are concerned about Trump's impulsive nature.
