EU to challenge Colombia at WTO over frozen French fries tariffs

The European Union is getting really salty with Colombia over frozen French fries.
EU trade chief Cecilia Malmstrom said Monday that Brussels will file a complaint at the World Trade Organization against Bogota ,... in response to the tariffs the South American country imposed on imports of frozen potato fries from Europe.
Colombia imposed anti-dumping duties of up to eight percent in November last year on frozen French fries from Belgium, Netherlands and Germany,... arguing they were exporting fries below the real cost of production.
Although the dispute is small in monetary terms,... with the EU as a whole exporting just 27.6 million dollars of frozen fries to Colombia a year,... it's big in symbolism particularly for Belgium, which argues that it not France invented the "French" fry.
