The typhoon has already caused some damage in the southern part of the country.
For that we have our Kim Da-mi on the line with us.
Da-mi, give us the latest on the damage.
So far, most of the damage is centered on the southern part of the country.
As the storm swept across Gwangju city and South Jeollanam-do Province, there have been reports of falling traffic lights, windows being shattered and items on rooftops blowing away.
Over 16-thousand homes were without power on Friday night just on Jeju island.
That's just according to the Ministry of Interior and Safety on Saturday.
Only one-third of those homes have their electricity restored.
The typhoon was powerful enough to cause a 3-thousand ton sea crane to collapse in Mokpo city.
Over fifty properties have been destroyed on Jeju Island, including a greenhouse which got blown away by the strong winds.
A sewer pipe also overflowed,... streetlights collapsed and trees were uprooted.
Emergency services were called out over 4-hundred times in the southern parts of the nation, and had to rescue a person stuck in an elevator.
On top of that, the typhoon has also affected transport routes, right?
Right, a total of 230 domestic AND international flights at Korea's major international airports have been cancelled so far on Saturday.
According to Incheon International Airport, 86 flights were cancelled as of 10AM, with 71 flights delayed.
Passengers are advised to check with their airlines as there may be more changes due to the weather.
In fact, 120 domestic flights and 6 international flights were cancelled Friday morning, but as the storm is moving up towards the capital, Jeju International Airport now is back in operation.
Wind shear and strong wind warnings are currently in place at the airport.
Warnings will be lifted at 6PM.
The Coast Guard also ordered 164 passenger boats to stay in port as of 6AM Saturday.
No fishing boats or cruise ships will be allowed to head out to sea.
As the typhoon moves up the country, it's expected to cause more damage. How is the government coping with this weather emergency?
The Ministry of Safety and Interior held an emergency meeting on Saturday morning to review typhoon damage and closely monitor the storm's movements.
Based on the path of the typhoon so far, the government decided to keep the emergency level at 2, which was raised from 1 at 2PM Friday.
The highest emergency level is 3.
The government has also asked 13 departments including the education office and Korea Electric Power Corporation to prepare all measures against the typhoon.
I'll keep you updating more on government measures and the path of the typhoon throughout the day.
