The festival is celebrated in a very public manner. Especially in Mumbai, local communities put up the most impressive Ganesh Idols and display it for devotees in Pandals, to come and seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
One such famous Pandal which is known for being the 'Wealthiest Ganpati Pandal ' is 'GSB SEVA MANDAL'

It is considered as the wealthiest Ganpati idol in Mumbai. The other specialty of this place is the food that is served to the devotees. They serve 'Maha Prasad' thrice a day to them, irrespective of their status, caste, creed or religion. All are treated equally and are never denied the prasad. Obligations are given to Lord Ganesha thrice a day, which includes lunch, breakfast, and dinner. After this, The 'Maha Prasad' is served on a banana leaf to more than 20 thousand people/devotees.
