S. Korea, China, Japan devising policies to boost eco-friendly car production

South Korea, China and Japan are reportedly drawing up measures to encourage the production of more eco-friendly vehicles, such as electric cars.
Citing sources, Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency reports South Korea and China will penalize local firms that don't manufacture as many electric vehicles as their respective government recommends.
The South Korean government is in talks with local automakers to determine what penalty to impose,... while China is expected to fine companies that don't meet the requirements.
Japan is recommending local carmakers to increase their average fuel efficiency by 32 percent and is urging them to produce more electric vehicles.
