Behind the release of the South Korean hostage, held captive by an armed group in Libya for over 300 days,... were the "intensive efforts" made by the United Arab Emirates.
A South Korean foreign affairs ministry official told reporters this on Friday, adding that the UAE's coordination and cooperation with the Libyan National Army was also a big help.
While the official did not provide further details on how the release went,... he said there was no combat nor negotiation with the abductors.
He said the armed group's identity is still being investigated, but doesn't seem to be related to the Islamic State terrorists.
The UAE's foreign affairs ministry also released a statement on Friday,... saying the hostage's release follows efforts to convey a message on the importance of strengthening security and peace in Libya.
