U.S. Marine Forces Pacific Commander Lewis A. Craparotta has also reaffirmed what he called the "ironclad" South Korea-United States alliance.
"First, of course, the value of the alliance, will never change. And the Marine Corps, our relationship - United States Marines and ROK Marines - is the cornerstone of that relationship."
Speaking at a Marine symposium that commemorated the 70th anniversary of the South Korean Marine Corps' foundation on Tuesday,... Lieutenant General Craparotta underscored the importance of maintaining the ability of both allies' Marine forces to support diplomacy on the Korean Peninsula.
He added that both sides should now focus on achieving the capability to implement the transition of wartime Operational Control.
