Seoul should not neglect values associated with ROK-U.S. alliance: Brooks
  • 5 years ago
The former commander of U.S. Forces Korea has said the South Korean government faces a big dilemma in maintaining a balance... between pursuing a self-reliant defense posture and increasing cooperation with its ally, the U.S.
General Vincent Brooks was speaking at a seminar in Seoul hosted by the Association of the Republic of Korea Army.
He said although the process of transferring wartime operational control from Washington to Seoul is in motion... South Korea should not neglect the values associated with the alliance.
Brooks added the American forces stationed in the region are being scaled down... but they're also being improved through specialization.
