LTC scam: CBI files case against Rajya Sabha MPs for cheating, forgery
  • 5 years ago
The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a case against Rajya Sabha MPs for cheating, forgery in the Leave and Travel Concession (LTC) scam on Friday. This is the first time that a case has been filed in the scam.
Three sitting and three former Rajya Sabha MPs have been booked under sections 420 and 13 (1)D. Searches are underway at the premises of the MPs.
The sitting MPs are D Bandopadhyay (TMC), Brijesh Pathak (BSP), Lal Ming Liana (MPF) while the former MPs are JPN Singh (BJP), Renu Bala (BJD), Mehmood A Madni (RLD).
All the MPs arranged fake tickets and boarding passes and got full fare reimbursed for their trip. To add to the surprise, most of the MPs have done this at least three to four times. MPs are allowed companion tickets only by paying taxes.
In November 2013, JDU MP Anil Sahni was booked by the CBI in leave travel fraud case in which Member of Parliaments had allegedly inflated travel bills. The CBI conducted raids on various properties owned by the JDU MP.
