00:00 The Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate have made significant
00:07 progress in their investigation into the Delhi liquor policy case.
00:10 The CBI has informed the High Court about their potential arrest of high-profile person
00:16 while probing alleged money laundering in the scrapped Delhi excise policy for 2021-22,
00:22 benefiting specific liquor dealers.
00:24 Simultaneously, the ED presented a theory implicating that BRS leader K. Kavita in collaboration
00:29 with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and ARP leaders crafted the excise policy scam.
00:35 The agency alleges that Kavita transferred 100 crores to AAP leaders.
00:40 This marks the first such open statement by ED against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
00:45 For the last three months, ED has issued a total of nine summons.
00:49 However, Kejriwal has refuted to attend any of these summons.
00:53 Meanwhile, K. Kavita, the daughter of former Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was apprehended
00:59 by the agency from her Hyderabad residence last week and remains in ED custody until
01:05 23 March.
01:06 The ED stated, "Probe found Mrs. K. Kavita, along with other leaders conspired with top
01:12 leaders of AAP, including Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, for obtaining favours
01:16 in the Delhi excise policy formulation and implementation."
01:19 The agency further alleged that Kavita facilitated a continuous flow of illegal funds to the
01:25 AAP through acts of corruption and conspiracy.
01:28 In response, the AAP has refuted all the allegations, once again asserting that the investigation
01:38 aims to tarnish Kejriwal's image before the Lok Sabha election.
01:42 They even criticised the ED's blatant, false and frivolous statements and accused it of
01:47 functioning as a political arm of the ruling BJP.
01:50 The AAP has also condemned ED's charges as a desperate attempt to smear Kejriwal and
01:55 former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, accusing the agency of peddling falsehood
02:00 and creating sensational media narratives.
02:03 The ED and CBI had previously accused Delhi government's excise policy of promoting
02:06 cartelisation and favouring specific dealers who allegedly bribed for licences.
02:11 However, AAP has also rejected those claims too.
02:15 The Delhi excise policy was scrapped back in July 2022 by the Delhi LGBK Saxena following
02:21 a recommendation prompting a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities.
02:26 Furthermore, in the meantime, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was also arrested.
02:31 Subsequently, the ED also registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act
02:37 related to the excise policy case.
