Sedan cars see weakest sales in 12 years due to soaring popularity of SUVs

Sedan cars in Korea have seen their weakest sales in 12 years,... amid the soaring popularity of sports utility vehicles.
According to the Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association, 694-thousand sedans were sold in the country last year,... down by seven-point-seven percent from 2017.
The figure also represents the first time since 2006 that the number of sales has dropped below 700-thousand.
And the market share held by sedans has fallen by more than 20 percentage points compared to 2010,... hitting 53-point-four percent last year.
Meanwhile, SUV sales have grown consistently,... doubling from 256-thousand sold in 2012 to nearly 520-thousand vehicles in 2018.
