At least eight people have been killed and thousands forced to evacuate after heavy rain triggered flash floods and landslides in Indonesia.

This video shows the devastation in Makassar City as flood inundated the area and several other regencies in South Sulawesi province. Parts of Makassar City were flooded following incessant heavy rain that fell from Monday evening until Tuesday noon. Floodwaters reached the height of up to 1.5 meters in several districts.

Indonesia is currently experiencing the peak of its rainy season, and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has warned of possible hydrometeorological disasters.
