Celebrating New Year in Ttangkkeut Village, Haenam-gun(1)

And we take things all the way to the south of the Korean Peninsula. Let's see how the people down south right now are reflecting back on the past 12 months.

Our very own Hong Yoo is at Ttangkkeut Village, a place whose name means in English "land's end." That's in Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do Province.
Yoo joins us via smartphone tonight.
How's New Year's Eve going down there Yoo?

Hi, Semin and Devin.
Yes, here at Ttangkkeut Village located in the southernmost part of the Korean Peninsula, known for its beautiful view of the sunset and the sunrise,... I've been seeing people passing by as they await for the New Year of 2019

The crowd is slowly growing as we approach midnight, and by time the first sunrise lights up the sky, hundreds of people will be here to witness the dawn of a new year.
So it comes as no surprise that nearly all hotels and guesthouses in the vicinities are fully booked tonight.

Now, when the clock hits 12 a.m, there will be fireworks illuminating the dark sky.
And that signals the beginning of "Ganggangsullae", an ancient Korean dance where people hold hands to dance in a circle. But this time, the tradition will take a modern twist, as it will be performed in electronic music style.
Back to you Semin and Devin.
