Right after the countdown, fireworks lit up the sky and the scene was absolutely beautiful. People here cheered, hugged and clapped to welcome 2019.
Ttangkkeut Village is well known for both sunsets and sunrises, and as such, it welcomes hundreds of visitors on every New Year's day.
People from all walks of life are slowly gathering here. The crowd will witness the first sunrise of the year at approximately 7:40a.m., Korea time.
Nearby hotels and guesthouses are reportedly fully booked with hundreds of people staying overnight to see the sunrise.
