Ministry of Justice permits 339 Yemeni asylum seekers on Jeju Island to stay in Korea

South Korea's Ministry of Justice has granted humanitarian stay permits for 339 Yemeni refugees seeking asylum on the country's southern Jeju Island.
According to the government, the Yemenis are NOT being given official refugee status,... but the humanitarian stay permits allow them to stay in South Korea.
Unlike refugees, those with humanitarian stay permits do not receive any financial support from the government.
After Wednesday's decision, the number of Yemenis who are allowed to stay stands at 362,... including the 23 Yemenis who were granted the same temporary stay authorization last month.
