Court to deliver ruling on ex-President Lee Myung-bak's corruption charges

A local court is set to deliver its verdict on former President Lee Myung-bak,... who is facing a string of corruption charges.
The sentencing hearing will begin at two PM, Korea time, at the Seoul Central District Court.
Lee was indicted in April on 16 charges ranging from bribery, abuse of power and embezzlement.
Last month, prosecutors demanded a 20-year prison term for Lee and a fine of more than 13 million U.S. dollars.
The verdict will hinge on whether the court determines Lee is the owner of an auto parts company named DAS,... and whether he used his presidential powers to benefit the firm.
While his lawyer has revealed that the former president will not be present due to his poor health and other reasons,... some watchers say it's because the court decided to allow the hearing to be broadcast live on TV.
