South Korean prosecutors have requested an arrest warrant for the de facto leader of Samsung Electronics, Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, in relation to the 2015 merger of two Samsung affiliates.
Along with the vice chairman, they requested warrants for two former top executives, Choi Gee-sung and Kim Jong-joong.
The review for the arrest will be held on next Monday in the morning which means the results are expected by late at night that day or the early next morning.
The three are suspected of illegally raising the value of Cheil Industries prior to its merger with Samsung C&T to pave the way for Lee to take over from his father as leader.
Lee was called in for questioning twice last week and is said to have denied the allegations.
