Fmr. Korean president Lee Myung-bak's assets frozen amid corruption case
  • 6 years ago
A Seoul court approved a request from prosecutors to put a freeze on assets belonging to Lee Myung-bak, who's been indicted on corruption charges.
The the former leader will not be able to conduct any financial transactions while the freeze is in effect, which would presumably be until the case is closed.
The decision affects 10-point-4 million dollars' worth of his financial assets,... which is equal to the amount of bribes the disgraced leader is accused of receiving from private firms and the national intel agency.
Lee was arrested in March and was indicted last week on 16 charges including bribery, embezzlement and abuse of power.
