Comcast Beats Out Fox For Sky With Audacious $40 Billion Bid

Comcast beat Rupert Murdoch’s Twenty-First Century Fox in the battle for Sky on Saturday, after offering $40 billion in a dramatic auction to decide the fate of the pay-television group. According to Reuters, Britain’s Takeover Panel said the U.S. cable giant bid 17 pounds and 28 pence per share, whereas Fox only offered 15 pounds and 67 pence per share. Comcast is based in Philadelphia, and owns the NBC network and Universal Pictures.
