Comcast Beats Earnings Estimates
Comcast exceeded analyst estimates in the second quarter, with higher pricing offsetting a slowdown in its broadband business. The company's streaming service, Peacock, saw a significant increase in subscribers, reaching 24 million, and revenue rose by 85% to $820 million. Adjusted earnings per share were reported at $1.13, beating the estimated $0.97, and revenue stood at $30.51 billion, surpassing the estimated $30.13 billion. The company experienced challenges in adding broadband customers but focused on increasing average revenue per user, resulting in a 4.4% revenue growth. Cord-cutting persisted, with Comcast losing 543,000 cable TV subscribers. NBCUniversal's theme parks segment thrived, with revenue up 22%.
