Delta Fire Burns Near Drivers Stuck on California's Interstate 5

The Delta Fire in northern California tripled in size overnight to over 15,000 acres on Thursday morning, September 6. US Forest Service officials said the fire burning near the Shasta-Trinity National Forest was zero percent contained.The fast-moving fire, which started on Wednesday afternoon, September 5, continued to burn on both sides of Interstate 5 at the north and northwest of Vollmers.This video, shared on September 5, showed cars stuck in traffic on I-5, close to the fire. Some drivers had abandoned their vehicles to escape the fire.Authorities have closed down 50 miles of I-5 and evacuation orders are in place for the areas along the highway’s corridor on both sides.
