The number of foreign tourists who visited South Korea in June is up nearly thirty percent from the same period last year.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization, almost 1.3 million people visited Korea in June.
The hike was driven by tourists from China and Japan, with a fifty percent jump in Chinese tourists, and forty percent increase in Japanese visitors compared to the previous year.
Visitor numbers from Taiwan and Hong Kong were also up 32 percent and 13 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists from the U.S. and Europe jumped by six percent compared to last year.
That jump has been attributed to stable inter-Korean relations following the June summit between North Korea and the U.S.
