Italian Firefighters Battle Drought-Fueled Fires in Sweden

Two Italian firefighting aircraft flew to Karbole, Sweden, on July 19, to help assist the battle against raging drought-fueled wildfires spreading across the country.Residents of the village of Karbole were evacuated on the morning of July 19, according to Swedish Radio.Evacuations were also issued for Gavleborg, Jamtland and Dalarna counties by July 18, as 44 wildfires burned in Sweden.Italian firefighting planes were sent to help on July 18 after Swedish officials asked the European Union for more fire rescue services.
