A dinghy carrying fifteen people, including four children and a baby, was stranded in waters off Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory on Monday, July 2, after the boat’s engine failed. Those on board were rescued on Tuesday by authorities.ABC reported the boat was adrift for about 24 hours before it was located. The boat had been travelling between Elcho Island and Milingimbi when the engine failed, leaving them drifting in choppy waters and strong currents.Police said if they’d started their search from the southern end of the search area, it is likely they would never have found the group.
