Stranded Hiker Rescued From Bottom of 300-Foot Cliff

A hiker who became stranded at the bottom of a 300-foot cliff near the mouth of the Klamath River in northern California was rescued by a crew of Coast Guard personnel on June 24.According to a Coast Guard press release uploaded to local news source Lost Coast Outpost, the team responding to the hiker’s distress call were from Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay. They arrived at the scene via a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and found the hiker at the bottom of the cliff on some rocks.“The dynamic situation required the crew to hover 250 feet above the stranded hiker to keep clear of the cliff face," Lt. Audra Forteza, Sector Humboldt Bay public affairs officer, said in the press release.
