Some fans watched the match at home or in sports bars,.... but others ventured out to watch the game on big screens set up around the capital Seoul to joing thousands of other fans to cheer on team Korea.
Our Choi Si-young takes us to the scene.

Thousands of fans gathered at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul on Wednesday night to cheer on the 'Taeguk Warriors'...

"It's my first time to be in the Gwanghwamun Square. I am happy to see many singers cheering along."

The crowd fixed their eyes on the screen.

And at last, a goal.
The streets were filled with shouts of joy.
And right at the end of stoppage time, South Korea scored another goal to complete the victory.

"I was so happy that I cried the first time they scored a goal. But just as I tried to stop, they scored another one. It was so moving."

"We failed to make the cut for the next round, but I hope the national team gets well prepared for next World Cup and I hope for the best for the K-league as well."

Although South Korea failed to move past the group stage into the second round, the nation is still captivated by the shock victory the Taeguk Warriors delivered.
