South Korea will take more time to review whether to join CPTPP: Finance Minister
  • 6 years ago
South Korea's finance minister has revealed the government will take more time to review whether to join the C-P-TPP.
The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership is a trade deal revived by eleven countries in March, after the U.S. withdrew from the TPP.
The announcement to further review the trade deal's effect on South Korea's economy comes after Minister Kim Dong-yeon said in March that Seoul will decide whether to join by the first half of this year.
At an economic ministers' meeting on Friday, Kim also said Seoul is looking to expand economic cooperation with Moscow in Russia's far east...in preparation for a summit next week between President Moon Jae-in and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The minister also added South Korea is carefully preparing for possible economic projects with North Korea.
