NJ Police Forced to Drag Driver From Burning Vehicle

Police in Roselle Park, New Jersey, arriving to the scene of a car fire on May 5 were surprised to find the vehicle still occupied. They were forced to drag the driver out as smoke and flame engulfed the vehicle.“The 42-year-old male occupant … refused to get out, appeared disoriented and resisted the officers’ efforts to remove him from the burning vehicle,” Roselle Park Police said. “Once outside, driver was alert and speaking. The male did not suffer any visible serious injuries.”Bodycam footage from the scene shows the moment officers found the vehicle to be occupied, and the dramatic rescue that ensued.Police said the driver may have fallen asleep with his foot pressed on the gas pedal for an extended period of time, causing the engine to overheat and eventually catch fire.
