The government designated as national cultural assets... two handwritten manuscripts by Korean poets who fought for the nation's liberation from Japan's imperial rule.
The Cultural Heritage Administration is listing works by poets Yoon Dong-ju... and Yi Yuk-sa.
The manuscript by Yi is called "Pyeongbok,".
According to the agency, it's an important poem that depicts the life of ordinary Koreans under the oppressive rule.
The only existing handwritten manuscript by Yoon, consists of 1-hundred-44 poems and four works of prose.
This marks the first time the cultural asset designation is given to work by writers from the Japanese colonial era.
