The local unit of General Motors managed to avoid having to file for bankrupty.
Labor and management at GM Korea tentatively agreed on restructuring plans... following a months-long row.
After the 14th round of negotiations, which began at 5 am Monday local time, the two sides reached an understanding on major issues such as the fate of 6-hundred-80 workers at the Gunsan plant, which is being shut down next month.
Those workers will be given the choice of voluntary resignation or relocation to other factories.
GM Korea had set a deadline of 5 p.m.... after which it would file for court receivership if talks broke down once again.
The company vowed to form a special committee to discuss normalization of its management with the labor union.
