Timelapse Shows Moment USCG Cutter Breaks Through Maine Ice Jam

A US Coast Guard ice cutter broke through an ice jam on Saturday, January 27, that had plagued the Kennebec River in Maine, causing flooding in the area.A flood warning had been issued last week near Augusta, but it was rescinded once the river fell below flood level on Friday, a news report said. The USCGC Penobscot Bay, which can be seen in this video, and three other cutters were working their way to Chop Point in Woolwich on the river.This timelapse, and the full-length video below, show the moment the Penobscot Bay broke through the ice jam near Chop Point on Saturday.
