Tropical Storm Franklin Hits Playa del Carmen

Tropical Storm Franklin came ashore on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula late Monday night, August 7, with top wind speeds of around 60 mph, weakening as it moved overland, headed for the Bay of Campeche.Forecasters said the storm would reach water again late Tuesday and could approach hurricane strength before its second landfall, expected on the Mexican mainland early Thursday.This video shows Calle Quintana Avenue in Playa del Carmen, on the peninsula’s east-facing coastline, early Tuesday morning.
