Can burnt toast and roasted potatoes really give you cancer?

Breakfast lovers woke up to a troubling warning on Monday: eating burnt toast and roasted potatoes is linked to cancer risks. The UK Food Standards Agency joined the FDA in advising against eating overcooked starchy foods. The study found that starchy foods cooked on a high temperature release high levels of a compound called acrylamide, which led to cancer in mice. While no conclusive evidence has been linked in humans, the campaign is advocating for people to keep their food safe and only golden brown.
