The Yankees will retire Derek Jeter's number in May

The New York Yankees have announced that Derek Jeter will have his number retired on May 14th this year, immortalizing him in Yankee history. Jeter is the most famous Yankee of the past two decades, captaining the team to five World Series from 1996-2009. Jeter currently holds Yankee franchise records in multiple categories including hits, games played, doubles, singles and at-bats. At the time of his retirement in 014 , Jeter had 3,465 career hits, good enough for sixth on the MLB's all-time list.
