Derek Jeter’s No. 2 number has been retired in the former Yankee’s Captain honor on Sunday. ‘Mr. November’ received a bronze plaque for his legacy in a ceremony at a sold-out Yankee Stadium. Jeter personally picked his ceremony to be on Mother’s Day so he can celebrate it with his mother, father, sister, nephew, grandmother, and his pregnant wife, Hannah. The former Yankee played from 1995 to 2014 and has five World Series titles, a .310 batting average, and a record 3,465 hits under his belt. "I want to thank my family for their love, support, honesty and more importantly their presence at everything I did both on and off the field. And the fans — wow — I want to thank you guys for pushing me, for challenging me, making me accountable, more importantly for embracing me since day one." He is the 22 Yankee to have his number retired.
