Dodgers' great Ralph Branca passes away at 90

Longtime Brooklyn Dodgers pitch Ralph Branca passed away Wednesday at the age of 90, according to son-in-law Bobby Valentine. Branca is known for giving up MLB's most memorable home run. The "Shot Heard 'Round the World" cost the Brooklyn Dodgers the 1951 National League pennant. There was no cause of death announced. Branca was a close ally of Jackie Robinson who broke baseball's color barrier. His best season came in 1947 when he posted a 21-12 record with a 2.67 ERA. Branca pitched in the major leagues for 12 seasons, posting an 88-58 record.
